Join us for the Borderlands Birding Bonanza on November 15, 2020!
Advanced and inexperienced birders are welcome to register and join experienced BRI researchers and volunteers at the Dixon Water Foundation’s Mimms Unit for an educational morning of birding. The Mimms Unit is dominated by pristine grassland habitat, making this a great opportunity to encounter wintering grassland birds such as grasshopper and Baird’s sparrow.
During the event, you will have a hands-on experience assisting researchers and volunteers with capturing wintering grassland birds using mist-netting.
This event will be from 7:30 am to 11:00 am on November 15. Spots are limited to 15 people to ensure safety and a valuable experience while birding.
At the Mimm’s Unit, registrants will receive a name tag, birding field guide for the day, and coffee and snacks. During the event please practice social distancing and wear a facemask when necessary.
After signing up on the form below, you will receive an email confirmation stating the date and time. Details on exact location and what to bring will be emailed to registrants closer to the event date.
This event is sponsored by the Dixon Water Foundation, the Shield-Ayres Foundation, and the Borderlands Research Institute at Sul Ross State University.
