Laura Cardona serves as an Administrative Coordinator for the Borderlands Research Institute, where she supports financial reporting, grant administration, and payroll to ensure smooth and accurate operations. With more than eight years of professional experience in accounting and financial management, she provides the institute with strong organizational skills and a commitment to excellence.

Laura earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Sul Ross State University in 2016 and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration. Her education and hands-on experience equip her to manage complex operations and support leadership across departments. She has developed expertise in grant processes and reporting systems, which are essential to advancing the work of faculty and staff.

Originally from Chihuahua, Mexico, Laura has lived in the tri-county area for more than 20 years. Her deep community connections give her a strong sense of responsibility to give back, whether through her work at BRI or by assisting with local outreach efforts. She is dedicated to collaboration, integrity, and perseverance, values that shape her professional and personal life.

Outside of work, Laura enjoys traveling and exploring new places. She appreciates the diversity of cultures, which broadens her perspective and inspires creativity. She is eager to continue learning and growing, both professionally and personally, while contributing to the institute’s success and to the community she proudly calls home.
