The Chihuahuan Desert Borderlands have a mixture of large mammals that is unparalleled, including desert mule deer, pronghorn, desert bighorn sheep, white-tailed deer, wild pigs, elk, aoudad, and many others. The relationship these animals have with the Trans-Pecos is unique, and despite this variety of large game and their economic importance, there is more to learn regarding their management. Researchers and biologists make it a priority to understand a variety of characteristics about these species of wildlife in the Trans-Pecos.
