DR. PATRICIA MOODY HARVESON
Dr. Patricia Moody Harveson is a Research Scientist with Borderlands Research Institute and an Professor in the Department of Natural Resource Management. Patricia teaches the Conservation Biology Program and serves as the faculty advisor for the Sul Ross Chapter of the Society for Conservation Biology. Her research interests are carnivore ecology, systems analysis and modeling, environmental policy, and the use of GIS and remote sensing in natural resource conservation.
Prior to her position at Sul Ross, Patricia was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the National Science Foundation Minority Fellowship Program. Patricia received her PhD in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences from Texas A&M University where she was a Doctoral Fellow in the Hispanic Leadership Program in Agriculture and Natural Resources. Her dissertation research focused on the urban impacts of endangered Florida Key Deer. She received her MS in Range and Wildlife Management from Texas A&M University-Kingsville where she studied the use of GIS and soils in identifying ocelot habitat. She also receive a BS in Biology from Tarleton State University.
