Mr. Yarborough is a native of Alpine, Texas, who now resides in Austin, along with his wife, Ashley. He is the President of the Alpine based Big Bend Brewing Co., and he serves as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps Reserves.

Mr. Yarborough received his bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University, and his law degree from St. Mary’s School of Law. Prior to his current position with Big Bend Brewing Co. he held various positions in both the public and private sectors with Morgan Stanley, Texas House of Representatives, and the U.S. Marine Corps, and most recently he served as a director at Kayne Anderson Capital, a leading manager of alternative investment strategies specializing in oil and gas, real estate, credit, and growth private equity. Mr. Yarborough’s family has also been in the ranching business for decades near Big Bend National Park.

The Borderlands Research Institute Advisory Board is appointed by the president of Sul Ross State University, and provides guidance and advisement on mission, goals, and strategies of the Institute, in addition to assisting in establishing research priorities in west Texas and northern Mexico, helping with fund-raising, and serving as “goodwill ambassadors” for the Institute. Mr. Yarborough’s varied experience and west Texas ties are sure to serve him well in his new position on this board.
