JULIE OESPER

Julie is the Administrative Coordinator for the Borderlands Research Institute and plays a vital role in the day-to-day operations, including serving as Editor of the BRI Desert Tracks newsletter and other publications. She has a BA in Creative Writing with a minor in Spanish from Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois. Her interest in conservation and ornithology grew during an internship as a field technician with the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo, Wisconsin, where she helped band and survey sandhill cranes. Prior to joining the BRI in 2015, Julie was the Administrative Secretary for the College of Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences at Sul Ross State University. She is currently enrolled in the Master of Arts in Fine Arts program at Sul Ross, with a focus in Natural Resource Management and Environmental Writing. She is an active hiker and enjoys her time exploring the Desert Southwest.
